Disliked/Liked Collage Artists!

Liked Collages

This collage is done by an unknown collage artist... The site didn't tell me his/her name, but I like this collage because of the colours integrated into it, and how the colours set a certain calm mood to it. Titled New Beginning, I believe that this collage accurately portrays the moods that can be caused by whatever new beginning a person may experience.

This collage is titled On a Visit in the Gas Chamber and is done by Niels Köhler. I like this collage because of the seriousness and dramatic way that the artist portrays the message both through the title and the picture. By showing the babies in a gas chamber, the artist portrays two things: 1) How young people were victimized by the Germans during and around the time of the Holocaust and 2) How the young generation were murdered and prevented a lot of the future generation from existing.

This picture just has so much message, and ... That is basically the reason why I like it so much. So powerful!

This is a collage done by Hélène Builly. I like this collage because of how the artist integrated different components of different places into the same picture. Even though I'm not really sure what the artist is trying to say, I like how there are different perspectives in the picture, and how they make up one picture.

This is picture was published in a National Geographics magazine, and is called Again Today. I like how this picture is done because of the unity in the picture despite the fact that it's a collage. I also like the overall message of the picture, with its calmness and to it, and how it reflects the title. I like the colour scheme, and how the artist chose soft elements to go together, and, again, just how all the pieces go together.

This collage called Une Famille Dans la Tourmente by Pierre-Alain Grevet is like the picture above, where it greatly depicts the hardships that people went through during the time of the Second World War. By showing people lining up to board a train shows that they have been kicked out of their own homes, and have to struggle to find a new place to live. As with his other works, Grevet accurately shows the seriousness and emotion that people went through during this time.

Disiked Collages

This is a collage done by Don Berry ... Although the name of this piece wasn't given, I overall just don't like this artwork... I mainly don't like it because of the lack of knowledge I have about what the artist is trying to say through his work. I also don't like what the collage overall looks like, and how the colours go together. Probably because of how abstract it is, I just don't like the randomn nature of the art. But, overall, I just don't like the works of Don Berry.

This is a collage done by Hope Kroll, and is called You'll Never Forget. I dislike this collage because of the lack of uniqueness and attention that this work creates. When I first looked at this artwork, I had to take a second glance to understand what exactly the artist was trying to say. I still don't understand what the artist is trying to say, and ... I don't see how this artwork creates any message through the way it's set. To me, it just seems like someone put two similar pictures side by side and titled it something. I don't know, I don't mean to be rude, but ... I just don't see how 'Wow!' this collage is.

This is Trasho by Steve Argy. At first, I was quite frustrated when I looked at this collage because I thought it was just some random magazine photos put together. However, after looking at it for some time, I could start to see how the author was trying to portray the title within the artwork. Even after this, though, I still didn't like this piece of work because of the simplicity of it. The same few colours are repeated, and there isn't any particular area that draws my attention. Maybe if there were more colours used, I would like it, but.. Overall, I dislike this piece.
